The initiative was conducted in partnership with Global Coaches Co. Ltd and sponsored by Arunga&#8217;s Eye Hospital . \u00a0 Mr. Thompson Sam Mwesigwa, CEO of ROSA Club, said the eye-testing exercise was aimed at promoting healthier drivers and safer travel for passengers. About 200 staff and drivers from Global Coaches were tested, and the goal was to ensure all regional drivers are examined, treated, and guided accordingly. \u00a0Mr. Mwesigwa applauded Arunga\u2019s Eye Hospital for sponsoring the exercise and urged all bus companies in Uganda to adopt similar initiatives, emphasizing that good eyesight is vital for safe driving. The event was witnessed by Mr. Sam Bambanza, the General Secretary of ROSACU.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Law on Driver Vision in Uganda<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Uganda\u2019s Traffic and Road Safety Act, 1998 (as amended), requires drivers to undergo a medical examination before being issued or renewing a driving permit. Adequate vision is critical, as impaired eyesight increases crash risk. Drivers must be physically and mentally fit, including having proper eyesight.
