As the year begins, CHUMATEIC Foundation is proud to announce a significant milestone in its skills development and gender inclusion agenda with the onboarding of the third cohort of trainees under its women-focused engineering training programme for the 2025\/2026 academic year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The new cohort comprises 16 trainees, including young women participating in the programme as part of the Foundation\u2019s continued commitment to increasing female representation in engineering and technical fields that directly contribute to safer transport systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The programme addresses a long-standing gender gap in automotive and transport-related engineering, where women remain significantly under-represented despite their important role in advancing safety, precision, innovation, and quality standards within the sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The training places strong emphasis on practical technical skills, safety standards, and applied engineering knowledge across transport systems. Upon completion, the trainees will be equipped with technical competencies and a strong safety-first mindset aligned with CHUMATEIC\u2019s broader mission of promoting safer vehicles and vessels across road, air, water, and railway transport, as well as safer infrastructure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As part of efforts to strengthen employment pathways, two female trainees have been earmarked to join CHUMATEIC as interns upon completion of the programme. The internship opportunity will provide hands-on exposure to real-world engineering environments, innovation processes, and safety-focused problem-solving, helping bridge the gap between training and professional practice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In addition, CHUMATEIC is in advanced stages of securing accreditation from the Directorate of Industrial Training (DIT). Once finalized, the accreditation will enable all trainees to be formally registered and certified under a CHUMATEIC-branded certification framework, reducing reliance on partner-issued certificates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This milestone represents a major step in positioning CHUMATEIC as a recognised centre for certified technical and engineering training in Uganda.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
CHUMATEIC continues to expand its advocacy for safer vehicles and vessels across road, air, water, and railway transport, while promoting safer infrastructure and stronger safety standards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As Chair of the ROSACU Technical Working Group (TWG), CHUMATEIC plays an important role in strengthening partnerships, promoting safety practices, and supporting initiatives aimed at protecting all road users and passengers across Uganda.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Foundation continues to champion a strong safety culture through engagement with communities, industry partners, and policymakers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
