URRENO Leads Road Safety Awareness in West Nile’s Koboko-Yumbe-Moyo Corridor

The Koboko-Yumbe-Moyo (KYM) road project led by the ministry of Works and Transport with World Bank support, is upgrading the 105km corridor from gravel to bituminous standard. Alongside the economic opportunities, the project integrates Road safety measures such as pedestrian crossings, walkways, and many others to reduce crash risks.

URRENO is complementing these efforts with its road safety sensitization and awareness program in the project corridor. Working directly with schools, transport operators, and community groups, URRENO aims to promote safe practices on speed management in high-risk areas, helmet and reflective usage among boda boda riders, and vigilance around construction zones.

This intervention will empower communities to identify hazards, protect children and other vulnerable groups, and demand safer road behaviour.
