Chairman’s Remarks on ROSACU’s Expansion, Secretariat Development, and Future Plans

The Road Safety Advocacy Coalition Uganda (ROSACU)CU) continues to grow, expanding from 5 to nearly 40 member organizations and solidifying its position as Uganda’s leading road safety coalition.

Despite limited resources, members remain united, sharing knowledge, making sacrifices, and fostering collaboration across academia, media, civil society, and government.

This year, our major milestone is the formal establishment of the ROSACU Secretariat, with Angela Tumuhaire and Doreen Nyakato appointed in April to support operations and coordinate key working groups: technical, media, and membership compliance. I am also pleased with the growing inclusivity, improved branding, and stronger partnerships with the Ministry of Works and Transport, as well as other stakeholders both locally and internationally. Let’s continue this unity, as government bodies like the Uganda Police and the National Road Safety Council now actively support and collaborate with us.

We sincerely thank the Global Health Advocacy Incubator (GHAI) and the Global Road Safety Partnership (GRSP) for their sustained funding, which has brought much-needed stability. As the current GRSP grant concludes in December 2025, strategic planning is vital to ensure continuity. Despite funding uncertainties, we remain committed and resilient in advancing Uganda’s road safety agenda.
